First Time Nude Figure Artwork
"Willendorf Babb"
Nude Figure Model:
Charlotte Babb
Studio Location:
Columbus NC USA
First Exhibited:
2002
"Charlotte first approached me in 1998 with the idea of using the Venus of Willendorf
sculpture as inspiration for an artwork," Allio said. "It took nearly four years after the creation
of the original color film image for me to develop the necessary skills to create this digital artwork.
It has become one of my most controversial artworks, ever."
This photography-based mixed media artwork was originally commissioned by the model.
"The most famous early image of a human, a woman, is the so-called Venus of Willendorf,
found in 1908 by the archaeologist Josef Szombathy in an Aurignacian loess deposit near the town
of Willendorf in Austria and now in the Naturhistorisches Museum, Vienna."
