A small segment of the inactive Water Wheel that was once a functioning part of Gilreath’s Mills remains visible as it sits in the woods adjacent to Shoal Creek in Upstate South Carolina. According to a placard affixed to the adjacent wooden structure, the mill was entered into the Register of National Historic Places on May 28, 1976.
