David Allio Motorsports Photography Selected for Annenberg Space

LOS ANGELES - The Annenberg Space for Photography has selected the work of veteran motorsports photographer David Allio for a special one-day exhibition saluting sports photography. Allio is one of 30 photographers who were chosen from an exclusive invitation list for this public presentation.

The Photo Space will present an evening dedicated to the talents of international sport photographers. On February 11th, 2010, beginning at 7pm the screens of the Photo Space will display a new array of exciting images which both compliment the mission of Annenberg Foundation, as well as the current exhibition.

"It was an honor to just be asked to submit my motorsports photography for exhibition consideration by The Annenberg Space for Photography. I was somewhat amazed that they would even consider auto racing for their sports photography exhibition," Allio admitted. "The news that my work was selected for this exclusive presentation is a gratifying recognition that motorsports are now equal to other professional sports."

All of the Allio photographs selected for showing at The Annenberg Space for Photography were created during the 2009 auto racing season using Nikon digital cameras and lenses, and includes images from the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Kentucky Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway, Bristol Motor Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, South Boston Speedway, Tri-County Motor Speedway, Hickory Motor Speedway, Gresham Motorsports Park, and O'Reilly Raceway Park. Racing sanctions represented in the exhibition include: NASCAR, NHRA, USAC, UARA, ARCA, and Formula Drift.

In addition to The Annenberg Space for Photography exhibition, Allio's racing images recently have been selected for display in the John Force drag racing museum and the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

The Annenberg Space for Photography is an entirely new cultural destination dedicated to exhibiting both digital and print photography in an intimate environment. The space features state-of-the-art, high-definition digital technology as well as traditional prints by some of the world's most renowned photographers and a selection of emerging photographic talents as well.
