ALLIO FINE ART SELECTED FOR VIRGINIA EXHIBITION

WISE, VA -- David Allio is one of only 20 artist selected for participation in the 9th Annual New Images Exhibition: A Juried Photo Competition for the Mid-Atlantic States. The exhibition will be presented to the public from March 29 through April 29, 1999 in the New Image Gallery at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

"This will be the first time any of my fine art images have been exhibited in my home state," Allio, a native of Southwest Virginia, said. "After working as a professional photographer for 25 years, and following several years of European exhibitions, I am grateful that my work was finally selected for a showing in Virginia."

The image selected for the competition is entitled, "Walking on Water." Originally created in 1997 on 35mm color negative film, the image was digitally enhanced in order to create the finished print. The subject of the image was an amateur model from Lee County, Virginia.

The juror for this competition was Brooks Johnson, Curator of Photography at the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, Virginia. The Artist's Reception will be held at the Zirkle House on the James Madison University campus on Monday, April 5, 1999, from 7 until 9pm.
