A Common Eastern Bumble Bee Bombus impatiens is covered with pollen from a Purple Passionflower Passiflora incarnata in Upstate South Carolina. Passiflora incarnata is also known as Purple Passionflower, True Passionflower, Maypop, Ocoee, Wild Apricot, and Wild Passion Vine. Passifloraceae is predominantly a tropical family represented on the mainland United States by the Passiflora genus.[1]

My mother maintains several perennial flower gardens. This Iridaceae gladiolus was seen in one of those gardens. Worldwide there are an estimated 260 species and over 10,000 cultivars of the Iridaceae gladiolus.
