This is the tenth in a series of fourteen still life photographs presenting Highlights and Shadows<\/em> on a hallway wall. The photographs in this series represent a barely three-dimensional scene in a two-dimensional format.<\/p>\n

"Perspective subjects the artistic phenomenon to space and even mathematically exact rules." The mathematical concept of the symbolic use of visual space proposed by Erwin Panofsky (1892-1968) indicated that perspective "looks more like a mathematical than an artistic matter."[1]<\/p>\n
