A marker erected by the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) on the southern end of the Poinsett Bridge is engraved with this information: &#34;This bridge on the state road from Greenville to Asheville was built in 1820 by Abram Blanding, acting commissioner, Board of Public Works, Joel R.
