David Allio Featured Artist on PBS/SCETV

SPARTANBURG SC - Award-winning motorsports photographer David Allio of Chesnee will be the featured artist on a half-hour documentary called "Impressions", which will air at 7:30 p.m. on May 15th on South Carolina ETV, the public television channel.

Host Everett Powers interviewed Allio in the studios at the Carolina Foothills Artisan Center in Chesnee and then shot footage of him working a United Dirt Track Racing Association (UDTRA) event at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, as well as NASCAR Winston Cup practice at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte.

"Motorsports photography is an art unlike any other type of photography," says producer Bob Morrell. "The action sequences are shot under the most difficult circumstances - fast vehicles often in poor light conditions. David is truly an artist, and his feature photographs of the drivers truly capture the spirit of the sport.

"David has tremendous inter-personal relationships with the drivers. He knows them and he knows the stories behind their success."

Allio’s 27-year professional career has included more than 1500 photographic assignments on three continents. His images have appeared in every major motorsports periodical, and have been featured in special exhibitions worldwide. He is a multiple American Auto Racing Writers and Broadcasters Association (AARWBA) photo award winner. During his career, he has served as official photographer for the NASCAR Winston Cup Series, the IMSA Camel GT Series, and currently the UDTRA Pro DirtCars series. He also has been official photographer at numerous race tracks.
