Glass Gem Corn – Visual Art Collection

Poaceae Zea mays is the botanical family, genus, and species name for Glass Gem Corn. Cherokee Carl Barnes bred the first three varieties – Osage Red Flour Corn, dark red; Osage Greyhorse Corn, colors vary from dark gray to white; and Pawnee Miniature Popcorn; red, to develop the original seeds for what became Glass Gem Corn. Later, with the encouragement and seed collection of Barnes, Greg Schoen added an heirloom type Pueblo Corn which provided different colors including yellow, white, blue, and red.
