Little Finland – National Monument Series
Until recently, Little Finland did not appear on a map. The rock formations of this space in the Mojave Desert existed, but were not widely notable until Proclamation 9559, signed by President Barack Obama on December 28, 2016, established the Gold Butte National Monument1. The lands of the monument, including those encompassing Little Finland, are now being examined for possible removal from protected status established by the American Antiquity Act of 1906.
