Rusty 1951 Buick Super Eight antique car Otto North Carolina 2020

Otto North Carolina – Americana Collection

Antique cars are fascinating, especially those rusty survivors from a time of steel instead of polymers exemplified by this 1951 Buick Super Eight. Think about it; Tupperware became a party in 1951. Guinness began keeping World Records that year. By comparison, Golds Gym opened in 1951 and declared bankruptcy in 2020. Sadly, vehicles of the Buick brand were last produced by General Motors last year.

This 69 year-old Buick Super Eight was sighted near US23 in Otto, North Carolina, just three months ago. Now, because of the global pandemic caused by SARS-CoV2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2), producing COVID-19, a disease apparently unknown in 1951, this Buick and that rainy March 2020 day in Macon County NC seem so long ago.
