In 2006, Chad Walldorf of Sticky Fingers BBQ restaurant fame donated $50,000 to charity for a portrait-within-a-portrait of former candidate for the United States of South Carolina Stephen Colbert. That portrait now hangs near the bathrooms in the Sticky Fingers in Charleston, SC. Who would have thought then that just six years later both names would be mentioned in conversation for a recently vacated U.S. Senate seat in South Carolina?

How did I know in January of 2012 that Walldorf and Colbert would be linked again?

I didn’t.

Why did I take the photo of the portrait?

I’m still not sure. It was just an oddity – something I wanted to remember – something that I saw and captured while grabbing a bite of lunch in Charleston just before the CNN Presidential Debate.

Politics has been called a "bloodsport" in South Carolina. Now it may be getting a bit sticky, as well.
